Face reading notes. Mian Xiang
*This type of divination is called later
heaven luck (man luck), meaning it is ever changing depending on your actions/willpower.
Early heaven luck, like BaZi or ZiWeiDouShu are fixed and cannot change.
(Sorry, could not add pictures. This is just a quick thing I wanted to share of some of the basics of face reading.)
Two popular systems of face reading:
-ding
liu fa (Fixed position reading)
(Refers to one point of the face, using
that one point to reveal a certain outcome. One feature =one outcome. i.e.
nose=wealth palace so large noses mean large wealth for the person.)
-hun
liu fa (multiple position reading)
(reading various parts of a face together
to form an outcome. i.e. must have a big sized nose+ strong spirited eyes+
strong cheeks to support the nose wealth.)
Basic face shapes and regions: makes up
basic make-up of their character and their destiny.
-the
face is a 100 year map of one’s life.
-xang
you xin shong “face fortune comes from your heart”. What your heart feels will
be revealed on your face. Cosmetically changing your bone structure in your face
can alter your fate, because the surgery will change how you feel about
yourself. The way to truly change your face, is to change your heart.
-Shang
Ting (Upper region): From the forehead to the eyebrows.
-Represents
your youth; nobility.
-Bad

difficult youth.
-Good

-Zhong
Ting (Middle region): Eyebrows to the tip of the nose. Includes your ears.
-Represents
your middle age; health & longevity.
-Bad

with livelihood.
-Xa

your old age; wealth & prosperity.
-Bad

-Means:
difficult old age.

-Five Officers:
the five major facial features- eyes, ears, mouth, nose, eyebrows.
-If
someone’s five features are good then they will have a fortunate life.
-One
good officer governs a minimum of ten years of good fortune.
-Ears
(Er)(The Information Officer)
-Represents
young age. (ages 1-14); The ability to receive information/learn.
-If
the ears are higher than the eyebrows, the person is very intelligent and has
high academic potential. If equal with it’s considered a positive feature. If
lower than the eyebrows, success will come to the person at an older age.
-The
bigger ears, the better. Big ears suggest a good childhood, emotionally stable
parents, and thus the ability to learn passed down information from your elders.
If small, the opposite is true, squabbling parents creates a lack of ability to
learn from elders.
- The coloured outer part is known as the Ridge of the ear.
-The coloured inner part is called the Shell.
-If
this part of the ear pops outwards, then this person is the type of person who
only hears what they want to hear and is a stubborn individual.
-The coloured part of the inner ear here is called the Wind
Gap. The ideal size would be half a fingertip length. If this is very wide, the
ear belongs to someone who is very wild/naughty/rebellious and open to become
friends with anyone. The tighter the wind gap, the more polite and conservative
the person is.

the windows to the soul.” A popular western saying, also holds true in this
case.

into another’s eyes is how we tell what they are feeling inside.
-The
closer the eyes are together, or the smaller the gap between them, the meaner/straightforward
that person will be. Carnivore eyes.
-The
farther apart the eyes are to each other, the more mild/indecisive the person
will be. Herbivore eyes.
*
In nature you’ll notice carnivores have eyes that are closer together upfront
and herbivores have eyes on either side of their faces.
-People
