Face reading notes. Mian Xiang



*This type of divination is called later heaven luck (man luck), meaning it is ever changing depending on your actions/willpower. Early heaven luck, like BaZi or ZiWeiDouShu are fixed and cannot change.
(Sorry, could not add pictures. This is just a quick thing I wanted to share of some of the basics of face reading.)

Two popular systems of face reading:
                -ding liu fa (Fixed position reading)
(Refers to one point of the face, using that one point to reveal a certain outcome. One feature =one outcome. i.e. nose=wealth palace so large noses mean large wealth for the person.)
                -hun liu fa (multiple position reading)
(reading various parts of a face together to form an outcome. i.e. must have a big sized nose+ strong spirited eyes+ strong cheeks to support the nose wealth.)

Basic face shapes and regions: makes up basic make-up of their character and their destiny.
                -the face is a 100 year map of one’s life.
                -xang you xin shong “face fortune comes from your heart”. What your heart feels will be revealed on your face. Cosmetically changing your bone structure in your face can alter your fate, because the surgery will change how you feel about yourself. The way to truly change your face, is to change your heart.

                -Shang Ting (Upper region): From the forehead to the eyebrows.

                                -Represents your youth; nobility.
                                -Bad features include: dents, scars, bad colouration, lines.
                                                -Means: difficult youth.
                                -Good features include: fleshy, moist, not dry, and filled with livelihood.

                -Zhong Ting (Middle region): Eyebrows to the tip of the nose. Includes your ears.

                                -Represents your middle age; health & longevity.
                                -Bad features include: dents, scars, bad colouration, lines.
                                                -Means: difficult adulthood.
                                -Good features include: strong nose, strong eyes, fleshy, moist, not dry, and filled with livelihood.

                -Xa Ting (Lower region): Tip of nose to the tip of the chin.

                                -Represents your old age; wealth & prosperity.
                                -Bad features include: dents, scars, bad colouration, lines.
                                                -Means: difficult old age.
                                -Good features include: rounded chin, fleshy, moist, not dry, and filled with livelihood.
               


-Five Officers: the five major facial features- eyes, ears, mouth, nose, eyebrows.
                                                -If someone’s five features are good then they will have a fortunate life.
                                                -One good officer governs a minimum of ten years of good fortune.

                                -Ears (Er)(The Information Officer)
                                                                -Represents young age. (ages 1-14); The ability to receive information/learn.
                                                                -If the ears are higher than the eyebrows, the person is very intelligent and has high academic potential. If equal with it’s considered a positive feature. If lower than the eyebrows, success will come to the person at an older age.
                                                                -The bigger ears, the better. Big ears suggest a good childhood, emotionally stable parents, and thus the ability to learn passed down information from your elders. If small, the opposite is true, squabbling parents creates a lack of ability to learn from elders.
 - The coloured outer part is known as the Ridge of the ear.
-The coloured inner part is called the Shell.
                                                                                -If this part of the ear pops outwards, then this person is the type of person who only hears what they want to hear and is a stubborn individual.
-The coloured part of the inner ear here is called the Wind Gap. The ideal size would be half a fingertip length. If this is very wide, the ear belongs to someone who is very wild/naughty/rebellious and open to become friends with anyone. The tighter the wind gap, the more polite and conservative the person is.

                                -Eyes (Yan) (The Vigilance Officer)
                                                -Belongs to the trigram Li, or Li Gua, and also has to do with the heart. “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” A popular western saying, also holds true in this case.
                                                -Looking into another’s eyes is how we tell what they are feeling inside.
                                                -The closer the eyes are together, or the smaller the gap between them, the meaner/straightforward that person will be. Carnivore eyes.
                                                -The farther apart the eyes are to each other, the more mild/indecisive the person will be. Herbivore eyes.
                                                * In nature you’ll notice carnivores have eyes that are closer together upfront and herbivores have eyes on either side of their faces.
                                                -People with protruding eyes are more accident prone. There is a type of protruding eye that emits sha qi, they look fierce and piercing; the person with these types of eyes are more prone to starting fights, this person should wear sunglasses to tone down their glare to improve their personality.
                                                -People with sunken eyes are prone to relationship issues, the fault being on their side. This shows emotional problems.

                                -Nose (The Chief Judge)
                                                -Represents your integrity/yourself/your self belief/your morals/your rights/your identity/your wealth/your ability to make money. This is your Health Palace. For women this represents their husband star.
                                                -How do you know when someone has a crooked character? When they have a crooked nose.
                                                -People with sharp noses are generally more evil and more cunning.
                                                -The ideal nose is:
-Straight. Straight nose=straight /pure character. “Nose is fleshy, the heart is not poisonous”-Chinese saying.
-It is as long as the ears.
-Has a high nose bridge, this denotes someone who is capable, has the ability to communicate and to stand up for themselves.

-The nostril wings are clearly defined and easy to see. These people are able to generate income.
-The coloured part shows where the nostril wings are. The back of the nostrils.
                                                -Bad features would include:
 -The nose being larger than 1/3 your face. This causes a personality that is too imbalanced. If the nose is too big, the person’s ego is too big. (*This is called the Lonely Mountain because an ego this big is not loved by many.
-A low nose bridge denotes someone with low self-esteem. These people tend to be afraid to make decisions, are indecisive, cannot speak to others, and are afraid to speak out.

-A nose bridge that is too high. This denotes a personality that is too strong and dominating.

-A nose with a knotted bridge. This denotes an imposing personality. Usually means this person’s marriage won’t work out because their personality is too strong.

-A nose that shows the nostril holes facing outward, easily seen holes to other people. This denotes a person who is bad at managing money. Holes of the nose is like a hole in a wallet, money draining. This feature paired with skin around the nose that looks as if it’s being pulled back, this denotes a person to curses others/gossips a lot.

-A bony nose denotes bad health. 

                               
-Mouth (Kou)(Communications/Foreign Affairs Officer)
                -Represents communication/influence.
                -Good Mouth
                                -Slightly larger than the nose.
                                -Slightly square-ish with pointed tips.
                                -Big mouths denote the ability to make income and work anywhere in the world and create a good fortune.
                                -Defined lip borders denote someone who is listened to.
                                -Able to close when relaxed.
                -Bad Mouth
                                -Small mouths denote bad communication skills.
                                - Lines around the mouth are called loneliness lines. This denotes a person who has the inability to communicate, and thus are lonely.

                                -Big mouths on women denotes them as a potential overpowering wife. They are successful in work but it is hurtful to her marriage.
                                -Blurred/undefined lip borders denote someone who is ignored.
                                -Open relaxed mouth denotes someone who cannot pass on their knowledge to future generations. These people tend to be the type of person who make a lot of mistakes.


-Eyebrows (Mo) (The Insurance/Life Extension Officer)
                -Represents a person’s leadership/ ability to manage wealth that is given to them.
                - Good eyebrows denotes a person’s ability to enjoy good health and the ability to manage crisis, overcome obstacles and lead to success.
                -Thick eyebrows are eyebrows where you cannot see the roots of the hairs of the brow. People with these eyebrows are more masculine and robust. Thin eyebrows, or sparse, are eyebrows where you can see the roots and they tend to be thinner. People with thin eyebrows are more feminine and meticulous.
                -Length of the eyebrow represents the person’s sentimentality. The longer the eyebrow the more sentimental the person will be. Long eye browed people are sentimental and altruistic and also tend to have more siblings. Short eye browed people are not sentimental and are selfish and tend to have less siblings.
                -Good Eyebrows
                                -Hairs that grow in the same direction. This denotes a clear-mined person.
                                -Eyebrows that grow upwards denotes power.
                -Bad Eyebrows
                                -Sparse at the end tips denotes a person who cannot save money and are bad at money management.
                                -Hairs that grow in different, ununiformed directions. Denotes a confused personality.
